Hi, 

I was always using Jaksta Media recorder successfully. It seems that every time a new version is released the program crashes. The resolution is to download the latest version.

But since my latest download, starting Jaksta Media recorder always starts parallels/windows, which I do not want.

Another fact is that the output video is no longer .MOV but .mp4 with low quality.

How can I fix this?

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Dieter,

Jaksta causing Parallels to open is an unheard of issue so far to date.

Bit of a long shot, but are you certain you haven't somehow accidentally installed the Windows version of Jaksta and that causes it Windows to start up when you run it? I'm not even sure if that's possible, but it's my best guess. 


The default conversion setting is .mp4 but you can set the conversion setting to .mov (Quicktime). I cannot say if this will affect the quality, but often the resolution is dependent on the video that is captured - sometimes Jaksta will capture a lower quality stream than the one that is playing at the time (although it is meant to aim for a highish quality stream).


You can also try the URL bar downloader as an alternative, as that functions a bit differently and may give a new result.


You could also attempt a full reinstall. If there is a break in the programs processes, then this should reset them.

What you will need to do is delete the app (uninstall) from Applications instead of just reinstalling over it. Then in Finder go to the top menu and then access Go > (holding one of shift/alt/control/command) Library > Application Support > Jaksta Media Recorder and delete that folder (NOTE: doing this will erase your library file list in Jaksta, but your downloaded/converted files will remain intact). Reboot the Mac and then do a reinstall of the latest version (https://www.jaksta.com/download/mac/jaksta-media-recorder) and it will regenerate a new copy of the deleted folder and the application files. 

Try some of these and let me know if anything works.
