Jaksta Media Recorder 2.0.3.243 installed but crashes before launching

Asked by pp123 @ 07 Oct 2017 14:10 / Views: 3

I installed the new version (already did a clean re-install, after deleting the folder from user/library/application support). After clicking on the app to launch, the icon flashes really quickly on the dock and the app crashes before even launching. Any ideas?

Hi Panayiotis,

If you haven't already, you could retry doing another clean reinstall. Whilst the point of them is to do a thorough reset, it is possible for them to go wrong.

When it does crash are you given the option to get a Crash Report at any point? Normally upon crashing or reopening the app a dialogue box comes up with 3 options - Ignore, Reopen and report. Clicking on Report should take you to a crash log, which you can then get the file of and send through.

Also, what version of Mac OS are you running? If it is an older one then updating that may also help.

No, there isn't such option of a dialogue box. The application actually does not even start up, only that quick flashing of the icon on the dock. I have also noticed that upon re-installing, there is no new folder recreated in the application support folder.

I am using Yosemite Version 10.10.5. Before updating, I was using Jaksta Media Recorder Version 2.0.1 (227) licensed copy and there weren't any such issues.

I have just now re-installed the previous version - Version 2.0.1 (227) - and it works just fine. Maybe it's an issue of the new update?

Hi Panayiotis,

We have actually just recently found out that there is a compatibility issue with the latest update of Jaksta and Mac OS Yosemite. We are looking into it and will hopefully have a fix in the coming weeks, but updating to a newer OS should resolve the issue.

If you are against updating the OS, then running an older version of Jaksta as you already are is about the only short-term solution available.
