Jaksta Media Recorder for Windows for Windows Technical Support Forum

Location of monitors configuration, and Crypto folder embedded into engine updates?

Hi!

  • Where does Jaksta store its monitors configuration?  I can manually save to a specific file, but Jaksta remembers its monitors across restarts.  Where does it store this information?
  • Starting with the 9/25/2021 engine updates, the C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Jaksta Media Recorder 7\dl folder contains Crypto and websockets folders and a bunch of others files not previously distributed (prior distributions have only dl.dat, dl.exe, and release_notes.txt in this folder).  Why?  Why / how is a Crypto folder related to Jaksta?

Thanks!

JMR7: C:\Users\<your profile>\AppData\Roaming\Jaksta Media Recorder 7

JMR 2022: C:\Users\<your profile>\AppData\Local\Jaksta Media Recorder 2022

The extraction engine is now unpacked when it is installed.  This is for performance reasons, saves it having to be unpacked from the dat file on each run.

Thanks.  I understand the performance advantage in unpacking the extraction engine.  What I don't understand is why there are Crypto hashing engine files included in these folders:

C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Jaksta Media Recorder 7\dl\RELEASE\Crypto

C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Jaksta Media Recorder 7\dl\RELEASE\Crypto\Cipher

C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Jaksta Media Recorder 7\dl\RELEASE\Crypto\Hash

C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Jaksta Media Recorder 7\dl\RELEASE\Crypto\Math

C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Jaksta Media Recorder 7\dl\RELEASE\Crypto\Protocol

C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Jaksta Media Recorder 7\dl\RELEASE\Crypto\PublicKey

C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Jaksta Media Recorder 7\dl\RELEASE\Crypto\Util

It's part of the engine.  Why?

So, are you saying that you are using all of your customers' systems to mine cryptocurrencies?

:) That package has nothing to do with cryptocurrencies.

It contains low-level cryptographic primitives.

You include hashlib in your distribution.  I get it now.  Thanks!
